The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) released its annual ranking of the top 10 players on the planet this week, but there was no room for Ronaldo. Erling Haaland took top spot, with Kylian Mbappe second and Lionel Messi third. The only Portuguese player to make the top 10 was Bernardo Silva in eighth.

Portuguese publication A Bola posted the rankings on Instagram, and Ronaldo reacted by commenting several laughing emojis.

Ronaldo has spent the entire year playing in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr, so perhaps it's not surprising that he has fallen out of the top 10. That said, he will finish 2023 as the highest-scoring male play of the year, having netted 53 goals for club and country.
